Although this clusterfuck could be seen a mile away, it is frustrating. Yes UNC should have known better and they need to at minimum provide a break so students, especially those that have to move and possibly quarantine prior to, can figure out next steps, especially after not following suggestions by the health department (start with 5 weeks remote learning). I can only imagine the costs some people had just to move here, especially from out of state. And all those people not adhering to the rules put in place should face consequences, there's enough on social media. We all had to sign the community guidelines. Although it wasn't surprising that people didn't follow the rules, there need to be consequences besides possibly having covid. This includes sororities and fraternities, the fact that there were known parties happening there should be serious consequences for these organizations on campus! I'm mad and upset. We were known as one of the best universities, praised for research and helping develop a treatment for this virus, and now this university is becoming an international how-not-to borderline laughing stock.
