as best as i can tell, the plan was just to charge full tuition for the cascading failure we're currently witnessing, despite it being extremely obvious what would happen. this is the level of incompetence that the state of north carolina has come to embrace. the idea that someone would go into student loan debt for a week or two of a face-to-face college experience, then have to navigate getting home after everything falls apart in order to do remote learning is just insulting. we have allowed some of the most calculatingly ignorant fools into positions where they are literally making life and death choices for people without much regard for gravity of what that means. that these irresponsible dull-witted dumpster people are making these decisions suggests we have collectively failed as a society, but that's still not nearly as much as they have failed us. and they will blame the students for this.
